Completed within a section of 13 students, the new master plan for the Erie Zoo reprogrammed several under-utilized spaces based on several client meetings. By using several plots of land owned by the zoo but not currently used, the plan kept much of the existing zoo while still adding new features. The new Master Plan for the zoo includes a "Winter Zoo" near the front, and an expanded "Pennsylvania Safari Zone" towards the back. The Winter Zoo, placed on a current parking lot, contains several new animal exhibits, an outdoor concessions area, and an ice skating rink (which turns into a fountain during the rest of the year), while the Pennsylvania Safari Zone expands on a simple deer pen to provide multiple new exhibits for animals native to Pennsylvania.
